I am interested in planting 3 - 4 trees in Roundway, to the South and East of the green, so that they don't get in the way of football games, or cast a shadow over houses to the North. Does anyone have any views for or against this idea and is there any funding available for such a proposal?

parking was so bad on 2/1/12 for southampton match that the bus couldnt go through coldean and had to go straight down coldean lane dropping off at varley halls, leaving us to walk to our homes among us a number of elderly passengers,we need wardens or police to ensure this doesnt happen in future, also that people dont park on grass verges our lovely green spaces in coldean are begining to be churned up by supporters who have no respect for our community, something needs to be done asap.

Hi James,
I know how bad the parking is along your road, most of the cars and vans are from the Varley Halls development and we have spoken to the site forman about contractors parking on the grass.
we are also concerned about the access to Rotary and the Coldean Church, I know the dustmen have had trouble getting along there to empty the rubbish bins and the emergency services would find it difficult. we may have to look at other measures maybe double yellow lines all the way to the church on one side of the road, we would have to speak to all of the residents first.
Thanks for your comments

Hi Wally/E Cardwright
Steve Reeves the transport manager for the stadium is working with the council and police to stop the parking in Coldean. The football club are looking to expand the seating at the stadium, but the council are concerned about the parking, I believe they are looking at a piece of ground to the south of the stadium to create parking spaces. Steve is aware of the problems in Coldean and it appears that the problems of parking are being caused by home fans, even though they have plenty of park and ride space some fans still insist on park in the local communities.
The Residents Association are having double yellow lines put around the corners of the slip roads at the bottom of Hawkhurst rd to prevent dangerous parking and posts installed on the grass verges along to Rotary Lodge to stop vehicles parking on the grass, we asked the local residents and they thought this was a good idea.
The Withdean area was small compaired with the area they have to cover now Falmer, Moulsecoomb, and Coldean but we have asked for more stewards in Coldean. Unfortunately we can't stop people parking in Coldean and with the stadium and the development at Varley Halls I fear the parking could get worse.
We will do our best to address your problems so thanks to both of you for your comments,
