Dig it

Often heard during the past year or so on Coldean’s community allotment has been the statement ” go on take a picture – my friends and family won’t believe I’m gardening!”why not join Community Participation worker Steve Andrews and his intrepid crew of volunteers down on the allotment.More volunteers are urgently needed and there will need to be some preparation for this seasons crop.Growing your own fruit and veg is fun as many are realising, the fresh air and exercise does you good and keeps you out of the wife’s way.

Saturday saw volunteers take part in the BIG DIG DAY down at the community allotment, the weather was a little inclement and we all had to dodge the showers but everyone enjoyed the day digging and weeding the raised beds. The group has now erected the new poly tunnel  and raised beds have been built inside to grow soft fruits and vegetables, so we should get a flying start to the season.

Our thanks go to Brighton & Hove Food Partnership for funding towards new tools and equipment www.bhfood.org.uk Volunteers
