YOUTH CLUB NEWS!
Now fully established in its own premises on Beatty Ave next to the P.O. the youth club continues to expand and grow with lots of new members as well as more volunteers and activities. In fact monday nights have become so popular that we may even open our doors a third night of the week in the future.
Its a friendly and welcoming club for any young person over 9 and living in Coldean. In the winter months sessions have included film making, cookery and movie nights as well as outdoor games when the weather allows. The group also made lanterns and took part in the burning of the clocks procession.
In the lighter months there will be more outdoor sessions, like trips to Stanmer woods, games of dodgeball, frisbee or footie and even the odd BBQ in the park.
In addition to the 2 weekly sessions we are now very lucky to have Gloria offering a monthly drop in craft session. These sessions will start on Wednesday 12/3 between 18:00-19:30 and will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Everyone is welcome if you are 9+ and enjoy arts and crafts – in fact we call it “The Coldean Crafters”
We have also been open in the holidays and just had a successful half term 3-6pm session that saw the kids make hummus and watch a film, then play outside, inbetween showers!
If you’re interested yourself or know a young person who may enjoy a sociable, safe environment to play and hang out then do please pop along.
Our sessions are
Mondays 5 – 6.30 (school years 5 & 6)
Thursdays 6 – pm (school years 7 +)
please check our Facebook group (the coldean youth club) or contact Oshik 07979285717, Julie 07867960728 or Sarh 07841045475 for details
Local volunteers have dedicated themselves to running the Youth Club for seven years now! The activities, trips and events are invaluable to the community and young people. We would welcome new members to join our adult steering committee. The AGM would be the idea opportunity to find out what the Club does and if you have a few hours to spare here and there, how you might be able to support our Club and it’s young people.
Examples could be volunteering on a trip, help with fundraising, even volunteering a couple of hours to help us re-paint the space or expertise with laying some flooring. The committee meets for 1 hour a month to chat through the things needed to continue the clubs aim and objectives.
All are welcome
If you want to get in touch about donating something, the club night sessions or have a question about volunteering, feel free to get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
